Decor and Entertainment (Vibes)

This isn’t going to be like a child’s circus and it is important to share our thoughts regarding the vibes we wish to create.  We will update as the theme develops further.

Color Palette & Textures

  • Deep Reds & Golds: Utilize rich burgundy or crimson red as the primary color, accented heavily with metallic gold for trim, flatware, and lighting.
  • Velvet & Satin: Incorporate heavy velvet drapes for backdrops, table runners, and stage skirting. Satin chair sashes or tablecloths add a subtle sheen under the lighting.
  • Black Accents: Use touches of black in formal wear, signage, or table settings to add formality and prevent the colors from overwhelming the space.

Ambiance & Lighting

  • Dramatic Uplighting: Use deep red or amber uplighting on walls and drapes to create a warm, theatrical glow.
  • Edison Bulbs & Chandeliers: Suspend vintage-style Edison bulbs or crystal chandeliers to provide warm, inviting overhead light that speaks to a bygone era.
  • Spotlights: Use dramatic spotlights to highlight the auction stage, key display tables, and performance areas, mimicking a grand stage production.

Decor Elements

  • Grand Entrance: A red carpet entrance framed by heavy velvet curtains or draping sets the tone immediately. Use a stylized archway with vintage circus lettering.
  • Centerpieces:
    • Tall, elegant centerpieces using feathers, gold branches, and crystal accents add vertical drama.
    • Incorporate small, gold-painted animal figurines (elephants, lions) at the base of floral arrangements for a subtle nod to the theme.
    • Use deep red roses paired with gold candle holders and tall, tapered candles.
  • Themed Signage: All signage (auction item descriptions, directional signs, bar menus) should be printed in a vintage, ornate font on heavy cardstock, perhaps with gold foil lettering.
  • Interactive Displays: Use vintage-style luggage trunks or ornate birdcages as props around the silent auction tables.

Entertainment

  • Ambient Performers: Hire a magician performing close-up tricks during the cocktail hour, or an aerialist performing silently above the crowd to enhance the immersive “greatest show” experience.
  • Themed Music: A soundtrack featuring instrumental jazz, classic show tunes (from The Greatest Showman, perhaps), or swing music will keep the energy sophisticated.
